Success & Struggles
Success
My greatest success so far in life was accomplishing my goal of going to Africa. Africa had always been a destination I had an interest in, but I was never sure how or what I could do about it. After a lot of searching for organizations and projects I could be apart of I found something that fit perfectly with what I wanted. I knew I wanted to make Africa my senior project for Harborside and I also wanted to get the school involved in what I was doing. Kids Around the World and their meal packing project was a great opportunity! (Especially since the Junior Class was studying Food and Justice for All!) Fund raising for the meals then packing them with my peers was a really neat experience and one I'm so glad I was able to be a part of. Then being able to travel to Africa and distribute meals like those I've packed with KATW brought the whole process of global impact and service to a whole new level. After all the work and preparation I put in to make the trip happen actually setting foot their seemed surreal. 'I've been to Africa' is still something I can't even believe I'm able to say!
Another huge success I've recently had in my life is receiving the full-ride Kenosha Oaks Scholarship to Carthage college. I couldn't be more blessed to have received it. I know now that all my hard work in high school is literally 'paying off' in the next four years and was well worth it!

Struggles
Throughout my life I have always struggled with doing too much. Not knowing when to say yes or no in order to have a balanced life is constantly a battle. For the majority of high school I tried to do everything and that took a toll on my work ethic and being able to give my 100% in everything that I did. Between sports, clubs, church, and school there never seemed to be enough hours in the day. This past year I've made it my goal to prioritize my activities and focus on college and scholarships with my extra time. I still struggle with trying to do everything and saying no when I am unable but have made tremendous improvements.
